Senior Estimator/Project Manager

Jon Allen, Senior Estimator and Project Manager at Coastal Asphalt since October of 2013, is responsible for launching initial projects, meeting with clients, and providing solutions. Jon’s expert skills in managing a project’s schedule and materials make him an asset to our team. He has 17 years of experience in grading and utilities and an associate’s degree in civil engineering. He also has a contractor’s license from the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation for water and sewer lines, grading, and boring and tunneling. Jon has certificates for HDPE pipe fusion, pervious concrete, and a South Carolina Real Estate License.

Asphalt Plant Manager/Quality Control Manager

Mark LaChapelle is our Asphalt Plant Supervisor and Lab Technician. Mark joined us in February of 2019 with 15 years of experience in asphalt plant management, lab testing, and quality control. His duties include training plant operators, training loading operators, plant maintenance, and quality control and testing of materials. Mark is originally from York, PA. He received his certification in the SCDOT Hot Mix Asphalt Quality Control program at Tri-County Technical College and previously studied hot mix asphalt at Penn State. He also has received training with Hauck Burner and as well as in welding.

Salesperson/Estimator

Chris Jones joined Coastal Asphalt as a Salesperson and Estimator in February of 2015. His duties include developing new business and expanding current client relationships as well as assessing customer needs and providing solid solutions. Jones’ work background includes 13 years of proven sales experience in the marine and boating industry along with several years in the field human resource management.

Salesman/Estimator

Jimmy Morris joined Coastal Asphalt in April of 2018 as a Salesperson and Estimator. His duties include developing new business and expanding current client relationships as well as assessing customer needs and providing solid solutions. Jimmy brings with him six years of experience in the safety equipment industry and eight years in education and coaching. He also has supervisory experience with UPS and as a salesman with Le Bleu Bottled Water. Jimmy is originally from Georgetown and continues to call it home.

Business Development

Tray Floyd works in Business Development and came to Coastal Asphalt in October of 2015. His duties include sales, working with homeowner’s associations, and developing business leads. Tray has several years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. A native of Conway, Tray is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University and has also resided in Colorado.

Administrative Specialist

Terri Alford came to Coastal Asphalt in February of 2017 with 20 years of experience in the administrative field, with half of those in the banking industry. Terri’s responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general office duties. Originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL, Terri has lived in Horry County since 1979.

Human Resources Coordinator

Human Resources Coordinator Mary Brown joined the Coastal Asphalt family in January 2022. Her duties include coordinating new hires and advertising of open positions, providing resources and training for employees, and ensuring all safety policies and procedures are being followed. Mary worked more than 20 years in the education field before coming to join our team. She is married to Russell and the couple has four beautiful children.

Staff Accountant

Kayla Weaver began her career at Coastal Asphalt in August of 2022 as the Staff Accountant. She has seven years of experience in accounting, with five of those being in the construction industry. Kayla is a 2015 graduate of Coastal Carolina University and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is a Conway native and continues to call it her home. She is married, and the couple has one child.

Contract Administrator/Asphalt Estimator

Keith Andersen joined Coastal Asphalt in August of 2022 as a Contract Administrator/Asphalt Estimator. Keith began his career in the asphalt industry in 2000. Prior to that, he was a property manager for 15 years. His current duties include preparing subcontracts, providing documentation to SCDOT, acquiring Certificates of Insurance, estimating, and more. Keith has a B.S. degree in administration from Coastal Carolina College, a branch of the University of South Carolina, which has since become Coastal Carolina University. Because Keith’s father was in the U.S. Army, he has lived across the globe, was born in Italy, and attended high school in Germany.

Project Manager/Estimator

Rodney Wood joined Coastal Asphalt in October of 2022 as a Project Manager/Estimator. He has been in the heavy highway industry since 1994 and has a civil engineering degree from Syracuse University. Rodney’s duties include developing estimates and assisting in running projects. Originally from Pennsylvania, he now makes his home in Murrells Inlet.

Estimator

Estimator Dylan Powell joined the Coastal Asphalt family of March of 2022. Dylan’s prior experience in the construction industry includes previous work with an engineering firm as well as a concrete company. He has an Associate’s Degree in Construction Management and Technology from Horry Georgetown Technical College and is a certified Sediment Erosion Control Inspector (CEPSCI). Originally from Georgetown, Dylan makes his home in Conway.

Grading Superintendent and Project Manager

Gene Harrelson came to Coastal Asphalt in August of 2016 as a Grading Superintendent and Project Manager with 30 years of experience in the construction industry. His duties include overseeing crews and projects; coordinating employees, equipment, and materials; and ensuring projects are on schedule and within budget.
 Gene is originally from Conway and has worked in the engineering division of the S.C. Department of Transportation and as a crew chief in the construction industry. He is certified by the State of South Carolina in the areas of grading and water and sewer.

Trucking Superintendent

Marshall Butler joined Coastal Asphalt as a Trucking Superintendent in September of 2017. He has 15 years of experience in the trucking industry, where he was self-employed in the family trucking business. Marshall is responsible for managing the trucking fleet and equipment maintenance. He has a master’s degree in business administration from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Francis Marion University. He has a Class A commercial driver’s license and lives in Georgetown.

Equipment Service Manager

Rick Roberts is our Equipment Service Manager. Rick came to Coastal Asphalt in February of 2021 with four years of experience in paving and shop management and 10 years of experience with a truck dealership. His duties include overseeing the shop, purchasing parts, working with outside vendors, and hiring mechanics. Originally from Michigan, Rick has been in the Conway area for five years.

Creative Director

Keith Anderson came on board with Coastal Asphalt in August of 2014 as its Creative Director. He directs all marketing collateral including designing and maintaining Coastal Asphalt’s website as well as creating all digital and print media. A sixth-generation native of Horry County, Keith has 20 years of experience in the creative direction and design field.

Media Coordinator

Tina Anderson joined forces with Coastal Asphalt in August of 2014 as its Communication Coordinator. She is responsible for creating written content and coordinating social media outlets for Coastal Asphalt. Tina is a native of Conway and has 16 years of experience in the communication and journalism industry.
