Overview
The CDL driver is a position involving safe and skilled operation and transportation of Lowboy trucks and asphalt paving and grading equipment. The main role of this position is to ensure safe transportation of equipment. This position will operate alongside numerous company team members and under the direct daily supervision of the trucking superintendent who provides guidance and feedback for all trips and tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt paving equipment, rollers, milling equipment, dozers, excavators, and other grading equipment
- Operate lowboy truck across various distances, including out-of-state or out-of-county when needed
- Comply with all DOT regulations, licensure, and procedures
- Ensure payloads are secured according to company and DOT requirements
- Safely load and unload equipment at project sites, shop, other locations as needed
- Ensure all workspaces remain clean and free of hazards and debris at all times
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Perform daily tasks assigned by trucking superintendent correctly and promptly
- Report all injuries, accidents, regulatory violations, and safety concerns to trucking superintendent
- Operate equipment as needed to perform assigned duties
- Properly power off all equipment and ensure all tools are collected and securely fastened in company vehicles upon project completion

- Must exhibit knowledge and understanding of all DOT regulations and requirements
- Requirements
- Must possess a valid CLASS A COMMERCIAL driver’s license with the flexibility and required endorsements to travel to various job sites within South Carolina and surrounding areas if necessary
- Must possess a driving record that meets company and DOT standards
- Must meet company employment requirements including but not limited to background checks
- Must agree to adhere to DOT Drug and Alcohol requirements including pre-employment, post-accident and random drug testing
- Must maintain a good attendance and safety record
- Must have the ability to carry and lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stoop, bend, reach with hands and arms, crouch and kneel as required
- Must be able to enter and exit equipment safely
